Dr. Paul Wild was awarded the 1901 Award of the IEC

The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) provides a global and independent standardization platform for the electronics industry, connecting more than 20000 experts worldwide.

Within the IEC, Germany is represented by the German Commission for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies in DIN and VDE (DKE), which focuses on the development of standards and norms for the fields of electrical engineering, electronics and information technology. Since 2018, experts from Rehm Thermal Systems GmbH have also been actively working on various topics in DKE/GUK 682.2 "Thermal joining technology in electronics".

In 2022, this work, started by Dr. Hans Bell and continued by Dr. Paul Wild, was recognized with an IEC 1906 award. The experts contributed on a large scale and with great commitment to the preparation of the third edition of IEC TR 60068-3-12. This was triggered by the desire to combine the information already available on the subject of temperature profiling during the soldering of electronic assemblies in an easily understandable document and to additionally strengthen it with new findings. We would like to thank the association and all the working group members for their active participation and look forward to further successful cooperation.
